Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to assist with the accounting, operations, and financial reporting for Hurricane Capital’s private credit and public equity strategies. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of fund structures, credit instruments, valuation methodologies, and the operational nuances across both private and public markets. You will work closely with the investment, operations, legal, and investor relations teams, as well as third-party administrators and auditors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting and operational functions for multiple private credit and public equity funds
  • Manage capital activity including investor subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls, and distributions
  • Maintain books and records and oversee monthly/quarterly NAVs across credit and equity strategies
  • Liaise with fund administrators to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Manage annual audits, tax filings, and coordination with external tax providers
  • Develop and implement internal controls, valuation procedures, and accounting policies for both credit and equity strategies
  • Track investment-level performance and portfolio analytics
  • Monitor leverage and compliance with fund-level financing arrangements, including subscription lines and margin facilities
  • Support the launch of new vehicles and onboarding of new managers across credit and equity

Qualifications

  • 3–12 years of relevant experience in fund accounting or financial control, ideally with a focus on private credit, direct lending, hedge funds, or private equity
  • CPA preferred; public accounting background (Big 4 or top-tier) a plus
  • Strong technical knowledge of fund structures, credit and equity investments, and valuation methodologies
  • Experience managing third-party service providers (administrators, auditors, tax advisors)
  • Excel and financial modeling skills
  • High attention to detail, strong project management skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary, performance-based bonus, and benefits package.
  • $100,000 – $200,000 – Dependent on experience and qualifications
